With the guidance, assistance, and direction of Professor GAS Ginigaddara, the Vice-Chancellor of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, the newly established Social Reconciliation Center at the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka held its inaugural engagement with Jaffna University on September 14, 2023. The program was sponsored by the university’s Culture Subcommittee, the Healthy Landscape Project of the Ministry of the Environment, and other organizations. It was hosted on the grounds of the main campus. The session was attended by fifty interested Jaffna University students and ten faculty members.

The Director of the Social Reconciliation Center, Dr. JMSB Jayasundara, all of the University’s deans, Representatives of Health Landscape Project and a number of visitors attended the first phase of the event: Introduction to Southern food culture. An exposure trip to Cascades in the Dry Zone was the second phase. The following exposure trip to University of Jaffna for Rajarata University of Sri Lanka students will take place in the month of October.

The engagement with Jaffna University reflects a commitment to quality education through cultural exchange and exposure trips, fostering a broader understanding among students from different regions.

The establishment of a Social Reconciliation Center and its engagement with Jaffna University indicate efforts towards promoting social reconciliation and building strong institutions to support peace and justice.

The collaboration between Rajarata University and Jaffna University, as well as the involvement of various organizations, demonstrates a partnership for social reconciliation and cultural exchange, contributing to the broader goal of fostering partnerships for sustainable development.
