Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Scholarship Awarding Ceremony 2022 was held today (30-05-2022). The 65 scholarships were awarded based on several criteria. Fifty scholarships were awarded based on the most outstanding academic achievements of the students with help from Herb Line Sri Lanka. Five scholarships were awarded for completing the IT courses, offered by the E-Vision Institute of Information Technology (Pvt) Ltd. Another 10 Scholarships were awarded with the help of the (Alumni association, Prof. Rev. O. Chandrasiri Thero, and other sponsors).

This event was conducted with the presence of the Vice-Chancellor of RUSL. Prof. Sanjeewani Ginigaddara as the Chief Guest, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Thusitha Mendis, the Registrar and Librarian, all heads of the departments of the Faculty, Mr. Sanjeewa Ganogoda (Director/Operation) and Mr. Saman Wijemanna (Head/ Training) from Herbline Sri Lanka on behalf of Mr. Priyadarshana Benthotaarachchi (CEO/Herb line), Mr. Sisil Ekanayake, Director, E-Vision Institute of Information Technology (Pvt) Ltd., Mr. Manula Wickrama, President, Alumni association of the Faculty, Prof. Manjula Ranagalage, Chairman, Research and Publication Committee, and academic, non-academic members, and students of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.

SDG Achievements

The awarding of scholarships based on outstanding academic achievements and completion of IT courses contributes to SDG 4 by promoting access to quality education, recognizing academic excellence, and supporting skill development.

Scholarships related to IT courses contribute to SDG 8 by promoting skills development and enhancing employability, aligning with the goal of promoting decent work and economic growth.

The scholarships awarded through various criteria, including academic achievements, IT courses, and support from alumni and sponsors, can contribute to reducing inequalities (SDG 10) by providing opportunities to a diverse range of students.

The involvement of Herb Line Sri Lanka, E-Vision Institute of Information Technology (Pvt) Ltd., the Alumni association, Prof. Rev. O. Chandrasiri Thero, and other sponsors reflects a partnership (SDG 17) between the university and various stakeholders to achieve common goals related to education and student support.
